The new "stick series" in the Contemporary II Gallery consists of fallen trees, nests, grasses, rocks and stuff along the Santa Ynez River. The river is forever changing. There is flooding in the winter and when the water recedes what is left behind is chaotic. But I found a certain rhythmic pattern in all the motion and chaos. And then in summer the opposite occurs. The shallow waters create a sense of calmness. Such is nature. It's a joy to observe and then record through painting what one has learned.
